Hidden Valley — 5PM-9PM

For dinner from our January reopening through the Lunar New Year, out dinner menu is called Hidden Valley - our homage to the Chinese-American classics we love, inspired by the deep history of Chinese immigrants in Sonoma and Chinese culture in the greater Bay Area.

Valley resides in Sonoma’s oldest building, built in 1836 by Jacob Leese. In 1850, Leese, a merchant trader, sent a ship to Canton, China, bringing back Chinese goods to sell out of his storefront, the four walls that have become Valley as we know it. The ship also brought back three Chinese workers, the first in Sonoma, one of them a cook. Between the start of the Gold Rush in 1849 and the late 1850s, the Sonoma Valley Chinese diaspora rapidly grew, making up as much as 30% of the population and 80% of the fledgling wine industry workforce. Chinese workers built wineries, dug caves, planted vines, harvested grapes and made wine.

1st St West, where Valley sits, housed Chinese laundries and residences. A Chinese employment agency was also up the block. Due to the nativist strategy of dispossession and the Chinese Exclusion Act in 1882, records of these lives and their contributions to our community were fragmented and hidden, but their impact is far from forgotten.

With the support of local friends and community of Chinese ancestry, we’re honored to collaborate on this menu exploration as a way to celebrate and pay respect to this rich and exemplary cuisine and its cultural legacy in the Valley. We hope you’ll join us for dinner, enjoy the menu, and engage with us in exploring the stories and contributions of Chinese-American communities in Sonoma and beyond.

Our menu will begin simply, and will grow and evolve over the course of the next five weeks, with a crescendo of special offerings around Valentine's Day and the Lunar New Year (look out for reservation options for specific dates to come!)

When reserving your table on TOCK, please pay attention to whether you are booking an indoor or back patio table for your reservation. While we have a tent and heaters, our back patio is still affected by the ambient outdoor temperatures, especially when it is windy. Please take this into consideration and dress appropriately.

We always hold a few tables on our patio for walk-ins, in addition to bar seats and sidewalk tables.

We do our best to accommodate limited takeout orders. Click here for our take away policies and call 707.934.8403 to inquire about availability on any given evening.

Daily menu subject to change.
